Work with us

We take on about one person every two years and we are not always looking. When we are, it is almost never somebody whose experience is entirely in replacing parts under warranty.

What we look for

  • People who reach for a meter before they reach for a catalogue
  • People who can be alone in a farmyard in October and make a sensible decision
  • People who write down what they measured, because most of what we sell arrives as writing
  • People who will say "I do not know yet" to a customer, which is harder than it sounds

What is on offer

  • A published hourly band before the first conversation, not after the third
  • Your own van and your own scope, not a shared one
  • Bench time in the winter for anybody who wants to learn the electronics side
  • No target on hours booked, because a target on hours is a target on the wrong thing

No form

There is no application form and no tracking system. An e-mail describing a fault you found and how you found it is worth more than a résumé, and it will be answered by a person.

The reason is the same one behind publishing the rates. A form is a way of not having a conversation until somebody has decided you are worth one, and in a workshop of five people that decision is going to be made by somebody who could just as easily have read your e-mail.

This is a demonstration website. Woodside Auto & Ag Electric is not a real business, an enquiry sent from this site reaches only a demonstration mailbox, not a workshop, and the telephone number is a placeholder. It was built to show what a small specialist workshop gets for a fixed price.

Or telephone and ask whether we are looking

The symptom check takes about three minutes and gives you a written summary of which circuits would be tested first and why, with the hours and the published rate against each. It is an indicative scope and not a diagnosis — nobody has seen the vehicle — but it is a better opening than a blank contact form. If you would rather skip it, the telephone works.
